We are giving away all of our money by 2035

For close to 40 years, ABSF has given away between 7 to 12 percent of our assets to grants, significantly more than is legally required by the IRS.  After many years of reflection and analysis of the challenging critiques around traditional philanthropy, we’ve decided with great care and deep intention to responsibly spend down all of our assets.  We are continually learning on this journey and our strategy is ever-evolving.  Currently we are focused on incrementally increasing our grant amounts, giving legacy gifts, and taking thoughtful, impact-driven “risks” on grassroots investments and social entrepreneurs with new and creative ideas.  

We re-evaluate our overall strategy on an annual basis and are always open to doing things differently and learning from and with others.  Please feel free to contact us with any feedback or ideas, we are on this journey together.
